DeSpain Releases "Broken Trust" Ad: Val Hoyle Breaks the Law, Now She's Breaking Your Trust

Monique answers Hoyle's false attacks and sets the record straight on vote by mail, abortion, and Oregon's rivers and forests

EUGENE, Oregon (October 7, 2026) — The Monique DeSpain for Congress campaign today released a new television ad, “Broken Trust,” that responds directly to Rep. Val Hoyle’s false attacks and tells voters plainly where Monique stands.

The ad opens with Hoyle’s own record. Last year, Hoyle acknowledged failing to disclose 217 stock transactions on time, a violation of the federal STOCK Act, which requires members of Congress to promptly report their trades. She paid a fine. Rather than answer for it, Hoyle has spent this campaign misrepresenting Monique’s positions, including a recycled 2024 attack ad that prompted a cease and desist letter from the DeSpain campaign last month.

In “Broken Trust,” Monique speaks directly to voters about what she believes. She supports Oregon’s vote by mail system. She opposes a national abortion ban and believes women’s healthcare decisions belong with women. And she will protect Oregon’s rivers and forests.

“Val Hoyle broke stock trading law over two hundred times — now she’s lying about me,” DeSpain says in the ad. “Here’s the truth: I support vote by mail, because Oregonians support it. I oppose a national abortion ban — women’s healthcare decisions belong with women, I’ll protect our rivers and forests. Val Hoyle breaks the law. Now she’s breaking your trust. I’m Monique DeSpain. I approve this message because you deserve the truth.”

“Broken Trust” begins airing today.
