DeSpain Calls Out Extreme U.S. Rep Hoyle's Vote Refusing to Denounce the Horrors of Socialism

Bipartisan YES Vote Included 86 Democrats, But Hoyle Sides with Far Left Despite Moderate District

Eugene, OR — Today, Oregon’s 4th Congressional District candidate, retired Air Force Colonel Monique DeSpain, called out the vote cast by Congresswoman Hoyle, refusing to denounce the horrors of socialism. Last Friday, H. CON. RES. 58 received a strong bipartisan total of 285 yes votes, including 86 Democrats.

“On Friday, career politician Congresswoman Val Hoyle had the opportunity to stand up for Oregon and join a bipartisan super majority to denounce socialism’s history of unsurpassed cruelty, genocide, tyranny, and mass impoverishment detailed in H. CON. RES. 58,” said Monique DeSpain. “Instead, Hoyle cast her vote in support of the extreme partisan wing of her party - joining Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib, by voting against the most successful system of human freedom and prosperity in world history.”

“The oath all members of Congress take is set out in federal law (5 U.S.C. § 3331) and states that members of Congress swear to ‘support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic’ and ‘bear true faith and allegiance to the same,’ - a Constitutional Republic based on free speech, free markets, individual liberty, and limited government. However, Congresswoman Hoyle chose to defend a tragically failed socialist system that requires total collective government control and tyranny and is contrary to our American way of life.”

“This shows once again that Rep. Hoyle is completely out of touch with our moderate 4th District voters who want a free, prosperous economy and the leadership to deliver it. When elected to replace her, I will vote as Oregon’s Representative - Oregon’s voice.” —

DeSpain launched her campaign for Congress in OR-04 on October 1st, setting up a rematch with scandal-plagued incumbent Val Hoyle in November 2026. Her launch announcement featured the following video: https://tinyurl.com/MoniqueCongressLaunchVideo2025

In 2024, incumbent Val Hoyle was exposed as the ringleader of a pay-to-play scheme to strong-arm the illegal BOLI grant of over $500,000 for La Mota’s nonprofit Endeavor in exchange for campaign contributions, which earned her an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice. Most recently, in September 2025, Hoyle admitted to blatantly violating the STOCK Act by failing to report over 200 stock trades for more than a year while enriching her personal assets by over 400% in less than three years.
