Monique DeSpain Blasts Val Hoyle’s False Abortion Attack Ad Claims

Hoyle Uses a Deceptively Edited Interview Quote to Distort DeSpain’s Honest Stance on Abortion

Eugene, OR — Today, Monique DeSpain responded to a false claim made in an abortion attack ad from career politician Val Hoyle. The ad uses an edited statement to mislead voters by falsely claiming that DeSpain plans to ban abortion at the federal level, despite her clear statements opposing federal laws banning abortion and her commitment to ensuring no changes occur in Oregon’s law through any federal intervention in Congress.

“Val Hoyle is lying to voters again - this time about me. This is the typical playbook from a corrupt career politician desperate to keep her job in D.C., where she fails to represent voters and what is most important to us. Hoyle has a bad habit of lying to voters in her effort to distract them from the fact that she is under federal investigation for a pay-to-play scheme with campaign donors,” DeSpain said. “My record on this issue is clear and concise - Oregon’s laws guarantee important health decisions are made between a woman and her doctor, not the government. I pledge to protect Oregon’s laws in Congress.

“I oppose a federal ban on abortion, and as a Mom, I fully support federal protection for both IVF treatments and contraception. Unlike Val Hoyle, I won’t be a puppet for party leaders. I’ll be an independent voice speaking up for Oregon and defending the rights of ALL Oregonians,” DeSpain added.
