Eugene, OR – Today, Oregon Fourth Congressional District Candidate Monique DeSpain slammed incumbent Congresswoman Val Hoyle for supporting the disastrous Biden Open Border Policies with her vote against House Resolution 957, a resolution condemning the crisis at the southwest border and urging President Biden to end his open border policies.
“We are experiencing a national security emergency because our southern border is wide open, and our nation is being invaded by hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants and untold numbers of drug smugglers, human traffickers, terrorists, violent criminal gang members, and other ‘gotaways’ every month, but Val Hoyle lacks the moral clarity to condemn this national security and public safety crisis and demand an end to the policies that caused it,” said Monique DeSpain. “Instead, she is voting in lockstep with the extreme members of her party and demanding nothing more than the status quo at the border. The President refuses to secure the border; meanwhile, Val Hoyle plays the blame game to distract from her disastrous record on the border. We must send new leaders to Washington if we are going to solve the serious issues our Nation faces.”
“Let’s remember that this is the same Val Hoyle who thinks it’s a good idea to house illegal migrants in our national parks and public lands. Why doesn’t she support having them camp in Mexico awaiting resolution of their asylum claims, like the ‘Remain in Mexico Policy’ legally and successfully required just a few years ago?” DeSpain added. “The truth is Val has taken every opportunity to continue the chaos at the border, which is driving the fentanyl epidemic, homelessness, the surging crime in our cities, and costing hundreds of billions of our tax dollars.”
House Resolution 957 denounced and urged an end to the Biden Administration’s open-border policies and condemned the resulting national security and public safety crisis along the southwest border, describing it as the worst border security crisis in the Nation’s history. It specifically cited the numbers illustrating the severity of the crisis since January of 2021, including the 7 million illegal migrant encounters, 3.3 million illegal alien releases into the U.S., 1.7 million known “gotaways” that evaded the border patrol, 312 known entries by illegal aliens terrorists, the saturation of deadly fentanyl in our communities, and the refusal by President Biden to use the tools already at his disposal to end the crisis. The resolution passed on a bipartisan basis 225-187, supported by 14 Democrats, with Congresswoman Val Hoyle voting against it.
